Short story: Paul

My time at the PTC.

A bicycle would be a fundamental representation of my time and engagement with the PTC.

I actually received a bicycle as a gift from a PTC member which played a significant part in helping me navigate within my Easterhouse community and sometimes to the city centre.

I was drawn to the PTC at a time when the COVID-19 restrictions were causing stress and distress, especially to asylum seekers, and refugees were housed in hotels. I was involved in activities such as going out for a walk during the COVID period which I would say was a therapy for stress and loneliness at that time, especially for me.

And of course, PTC meetings and collaborating with other organisations. I was also involved in a memorable trip to Iona last year. And I had an opportunity to make a brief statement at George Square on the commemoration of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty last year of year, in October.

What I have gained from the PTC is a firm confidence and the continuing empathy and passion to support and stand up for everything relating to poverty. And people living in poverty and how to alleviate poverty in our communities. Anytime I see a bicycle, it's envisaged the vision of alleviating poverty in our communities. And that is the PTC Glasgow.

Thank you.
