Come away into the Poverty Truth Community archive
Come away, come away in.
The storm it is rising but we’ll hold back the wind.
Come away, come away in.
Founded in 2009, The Poverty Truth Community (previously Commission) is a grassroots movement for change led by people living with poverty. Since then, they have brought people living with poverty and people making decisions about poverty together in conversation - forming relationships, opening doors and creating change.
The Poverty Truth Community has worked with the Binks Hub to create a digital archive holding stories of their work, diverse yet interwoven, at contrasting scales, and including multiple perspectives. The archive answers the call to preserve this unique story of activism – one that honours The Poverty Truth Community’s past, supports its present, and may just shape the future.
We invite you to 'come away in' to our community archive and learn about our community, and our work. You can read about the Poverty Truth Community's history and origins, as well as view and listen to community-donated images, personal artefacts, texts, recorded stories and collages curated and made by our community members - past and present. Together, we imagine these pieces as part of a quilt - each 'patch' holds an individual memory, but stitched together they form a powerful collective voice.
Please stay awhile. Get yourself a cup of tea, settle in. Listen, reflect, and stand alongside people with lived experience of poverty.
