I chose a lamp because the PTC is a beacon of compassion in an often dark world. I previously choose a candle, but I've updated it to what I call a reading lamp. Shining into the corners that are generally ignored.

I was asked to join one of the earlier PTC commissions because I was considered to be a person of influence. I felt that I had lots to learn about the lives of those who not like me. I like the way that everyone was treated as equal. I did learn lots, and I have taken on board that those living in poverty really are the experts. My preconceptions have been challenged and maybe could have been challenged more. I’ve made friendships unlike previous ones.

I hope that the can do approaches of those of us who grew up with privilege and high expectations can rub off on those who've been beaten down by the many cruel systems that exist in our society. Thank you.
